Nelson Mandela Day, celebrated on July 18, is an annual international day adopted by the United Nations. The overarching objective of Mandela Day is to inspire individuals to take action to help change the world for the better, and in doing so build a global movement for good. Ultimately it seeks to empower communities everywhere.
African Professionals of Australia-Queensland cordially invites you to a celebration of Nelson Mandela’s life and legacy and be part of a global movement taking his life’s work into a new era and changing our world for the better. Mandela Day asks us all to “Take Action; Inspire Change; Make Every Day a Mandela Day.”
Guests can expect a red-carpet extravaganza, ranging from music, dance, poems, international cuisine, and live entertainment. The celebration will be a platform for Professionals, international students, researchers, industries, Governments, policy makers and other stakeholders to learn about and celebrate Nelson Mandela’s life and legacy. It will also be a great opportunity for service providers to connect with the community and to network and also raise funds for disadvantaged individuals and communities in South Africa and Australia.
We are also happy to announce that APA will be launching “We are One Australia” Project. This project is funded by the Department of Home Affairs Fostering Integration Grants program to support our new initiatives aimed at helping our members and the community more broadly to better integrate into Australian life through employment and community participation.
Each of us can make a small difference. If we all make a difference together, our collective effort can truly change the world.
