A Free Concert with Master Slide Guitarist Rhitom Sarkar

Sahaja Yoga Meditation presents “An Evening of Classical and Devotional Music”.

The evening will include calming mantras, uplifting music and soothing guided meditation.

Opening with Brisbane based group Sahaj Sangeet (Spontaneous Music), who are an eclectic group of musicians who specialise in Hindustani Devotional Music, known as Bhajans. These are sung in several languages including Hindi, Sanskrit and Marathi, and accompanied by traditional and contemporary instruments including Sitar, Harmonium, Santoor, Flute and Tabla.

The evening will include an introduction to Sahaja Yoga meditation and a guided meditation.

The feature act of the evening will be a Hindustani Classical Music performance by slide guitar virtuoso Rhitom Sarkar from India. Rhitom is an award winning musician who has been granted a coveted “A” grading by Akashwani (All India Radio) and awarded the most prestigious ‘SUR-MANI’ award from SUR SINGAR SAMSAD, Mumbai. He regularly appears on TV and Radio.

He has also travelled extensively overseas, performing and teaching in USA, UK, Canada, Singapore, Japan and Australia.

Rhitom will be accompanied by local Tabla player, Pankaj Navlekar.
