Under The Milky Way Tonight was created by Karen to honour the love, light and heartfelt contribution Archie Roach, Judith Durham and Olivia Newton John made to the fabric of Australia’s musical soul and identity.
Following a year of great loss in Australian music, Karen wanted to, “curate a show that was more than a tribute”. This performance is about, “coming together and healing”. Karen’s celestial 3-piece band, The Elements, (piano, guitar and cello) joins Australia’s beloved songstress to honour three precious Aussie legends through performing their inspirational music.
Karen Knowles began her performance career on Young Talent Time, moving on to become lead singer of legendary Australian folk group The Seekers and a recording artist with gold and platinum awards. Touring internationally with the Seekers for two years, Karen recorded the original version of the much-loved song, “I Am Australian” with Bruce Woodley and the National Boys Choir. An Australian-born singer/songwriter/performer, Karen’s career has spanned more than 40 years, including two consecutive years as the highest-selling female recording artist in Australia.
Singing for and with audiences with heartfelt gratitude and recognition, join Karen for Under The Milky Way Tonight as she upholds what Archie, Judith and Olivia all stood and sang for – unity, healing, connection and belonging. This will be a concert to remember.
